Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Intermediate Substation Structural Engineer to join our Power Delivery Civil/Structural Group. This role supports planning, analysis, and delivery of structural solutions for electrical substations, collaborating with engineers and project managers to ensure safety, quality, and code compliance.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Structural or Civil Engineering and 1–3 years of experience, with proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads or ANSYS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in structural or civil engineering or related field.
  • 1 to 3 years of post-education experience.
  • Knowledge of structural engineering principles and design/build processes.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and record-keeping.
  • Analytical mindset with sound judgement.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Proficiency with technical writing, spreadsheets, and relevant software.
  • Experience with structural design software listed above.

Responsibilities

  • Support technical staff, engineers, and project managers in planning, analysis, and delivery of structural solutions for substations.
  • Assist data collection from sites, blueprints, GIS, and survey information for project development.
  • Perform basic professional structural engineering work and assess compliance with standards.
  • Develop technologies and modeling techniques to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation with calculations and drawings.
  • Assist with risk identification and project mitigation activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute project work.
  • Contribute to work plan preparation and coordination of site activities.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
