Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Mid-Level Structural Engineer to join the Power Delivery Substation Structural Group in San Diego, CA. You will lead design tasks for electrical substations, collaborating with civil/structural teams to meet client objectives and project schedules.

You will perform foundation, structure, rigid bus, and control building design under minimal supervision, develop calculation packages, and contribute to proposals and budgets. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BSCE degree required.
• 5–7 years of post-education structural design experience.
• Experience with electrical substation design preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ASCE/ACI/AISC/IEEE building codes.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineers, designers, and drafters in substation structural design.
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines on results.
• Prepare calculation packages to satisfy client and code requirements.
• Develop construction specifications, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Review shop drawings and provide construction phase support.
• Occasional travel to project sites as needed.
