Job summary

GFT seeks an experienced Substation Engineer (Electrical) to lead and support utility power projects from 34.5kV to 500kV. Hybrid work is available in multiple locations; remote may be possible for the right candidate.

The role emphasizes design, client liaison, and project delivery within the power/utility sector. You will develop drawings, one-lines, power systems, and SCADA/relay layouts, and build strong client relationships while contributing to regional and national opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer License or on the path to obtaining licensure.
• 4+ years progressive experience in design, engineering and project management in power/utility.
• Experience in consulting engineering preferred.
• Proficiency with project management software (Microsoft Project or similar).
• Design experience in high voltage substation and distribution projects.
• Commitment to driving business performance and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Develop substation layout drawings and related documentation for new and existing substations.
• Develop one lines, SCADA/Communications, relay layouts, and wiring diagrams.
• Prepare calculations and reports for clients and internal teams.
• Prepare equipment specifications for substation equipment and components.
• Collaborate regionally and nationally to pursue power substation projects.
• Develop and nurture client relationships across disciplines.
• Participate in proposal, bid, report, and presentation preparations.
