Job summary

GFT is seeking experienced Principal Substation Engineers (Electrical Engineers) to lead or support utility and power substation projects across the U.S. Hybrid work option is available in several cities, with remote work possible for the right candidate.

We value expertise in high‑voltage substations and delivery of major power projects. You will design substations from 34.5kV to 500kV, prepare layouts, one‑lines, equipment specs, and mentor a team while managing scope, schedule, and budget as

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer license required.
• 15+ years progressive experience in design, engineering and project management within power and utility industry.
• Experience in consulting engineering.
• Proven ability with project management software (MS Project) for scope, schedule, budget.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support utility and power substation projects and clients.
• Develop substation layouts, one lines, and equipment specifications.
• Prepare calculations and reports for clients.
• Manage technical, financial, and scheduling aspects of projects.
• Mentor staff and collaborate with multiple offices.
• Prepare proposals, bids, reports and presentations.
