Job summary

Irby Construction, a subsidiary of Quanta Services, seeks a Substation Project Manager to lead electrical substation construction programs with safety and financial accountability. You will oversee planning, scheduling, cost control, contract administration, and client coordination for greenfield and brownfield substations.

You’ll collaborate with engineers, estimators, safety, and procurement to ensure on-time delivery while maintaining quality and regulatory standards across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Construction Science, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible construction project management experience, including high-voltage substation work.
• Experience delivering greenfield or brownfield utility substations with budgets, schedules, and customer requirements.
• Ability to read electrical and civil drawings, single-line diagrams, specs and submittals.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook and project management software; strong written communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation projects from preconstruction through turnover, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget adherence.
• Review contracts, drawings, BOMs; identify scope gaps, risks, and execution needs.
• Develop execution plans, baselines, look-ahead schedules, and labor/equipment plans.
• Coordinate with superintendents, engineers, procurement, and field leadership on activities and resources.
• Manage budgets, invoicing, revenue forecasts, and cost-to-complete reporting; monitor cash flow.
