Job summary

Irby Construction Company is seeking a Substation Project Manager to lead electrical substation construction projects in our growing power infrastructure group. You will oversee planning, scheduling, cost control, and client coordination across greenfield and brownfield substations, working with site teams and corporate support to deliver safely, on time, and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Construction Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible construction PM experience, with heavy substation exposure.
• Experience delivering greenfield/brownfield substations and managing budgets, schedules, and customer requirements.
• Ability to read electrical/civil drawings and manage change orders.
• Proficiency with Excel, scheduling software, and cost reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation projects from preconstruction to turnover, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget compliance.
• Develop execution plans, baselines, look-ahead schedules, and resource plans.
• Coordinate with superintendents, engineers, procurement, and safety for project delivery.
• Manage budgets, billing, cash flow, and monthly financial reporting.
• Maintain project records, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and closeout documents.
• Mentor engineers and junior PM staff; drive cross-functional collaboration.
• Collaborate with utilities and customers to resolve technical and construction issues.
