Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Cranberry Township, PA, seeks a lead design engineer in structural engineering to guide a team of structural engineers, interface with multi-disciplinary staff, and liaise directly with clients on nuclear facility projects.

You will oversee design calculations, develop specifications, review drawings, and coordinate site activities, with opportunities to travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and field verification.

Qualifications

BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
10+ years of experience on project teams in design/analysis of industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear structures.
Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of structural engineers on projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades/modifications.
Interface with engineers from other disciplines and with clients.
Prepare, review, and guide design calculations, develop specifications, and coordinate with designers for drawing development.
Oversee structural analysis and design of steel frames, concrete members, and foundations; travel to client/vendor sites as needed for reviews and field verification.
