Job summary

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Lead Site Reliability Engineer to shape the reliability strategy for enterprise platforms in Columbus, OH. You will lead a team, drive resiliency initiatives, and mentor engineers while coordinating with cross-functional partners across the SDLC.

You will own on-call incidents, define SLI/SLOs, and champion AI-enabled reliability workflows to improve detection, diagnosis, and remediation. This role emphasizes security, cost discipline, and scalable automation.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on Site Reliability Engineering concepts with 5+ years of applied experience.
• Experience using enterprise AI capabilities to improve SRE workflows with strong validation and data sensitivity awareness.
• Ability to evaluate AI-assisted operational recommendations for correctness and risk, and set guardrails.
• Strong production software engineering experience in Python, Go, Java, C++, or Rust delivering end-to-end systems.
• Proven ownership of production systems at scale, including on-call responsibility and incident postmortems.
• Demonstrated SLI/SLO practices and ability to drive reliability decisions using data.
• Deep observability skills: white-box and black-box monitoring, SLO-based alerting, high-quality telemetry.

Responsibilities

• Build reliability into the platform through production-grade software and automation that reduces manual operations.
• Use declarative systems to store desired state and reconcile actual state via automation.
• Instrument telemetry and state data to drive detection, diagnosis, and remediation.
• Define SLIs/SLOs with stakeholders and operationalize them with alerting and telemetry.
• Own services end-to-end—reliability, performance, security and cost—lead on-call and incidents, and drive toil reduction.
• Leverage AI across the SDLC with validation, ensuring speed does not compromise correctness.
• Promote AI-assisted reliability workflows across CI/CD, testing, and operational readiness with auditability and controls.
