Job summary

Compass Group USA, Eurest division, is hiring a full-time Sous Chef for the Suffolk, VA area. The role involves assisting the Executive Chef, coordinating cooks and food-service staff, and managing kitchen operations during shifts.

Requires strong culinary skills and management experience; menu-building experience is required. Competitive benefits are offered, with pay ranging from $18.50 to $22.00 per hour depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards.
• Supervises hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and performance reviews.
• Stores food in designated areas per corporate, state and federal food safety procedures.
• Ensures proper food handling, portion control and serving temperatures.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils; cleans workstation before leaving area.
• Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Explains daily menu items to associates and customers; ensures understanding.
• Keeps up with peak production and service hours.
• Monitors inventory and deliveries; tracks usage and waste; notifies supervisor when low.
