Job summary

Constance Ephelia Resort is seeking an Assistant Head Sommelier to join its esteemed food and beverage team. You will work closely with the Head Sommelier to ensure an exceptional wine experience for guests, managing the extensive wine programme and training staff.

The role requires extensive wine knowledge, strong palate, and excellent communication skills. A luxury hospitality setting and collaboration with multiple restaurant outlets are involved, with opportunities for education and events.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as sommelier in luxury hotel or fine dining
• Extensive knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and production
• Excellent palate and tasting abilities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience in staff training and mentoring

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing the resort's wine programme and cellar
• Curate and update wine lists for multiple restaurants
• Provide wine recommendations and food pairings to guests
• Conduct wine tastings and educational sessions
• Train junior sommeliers and wine service staff
• Maintain relationships with wine suppliers and negotiate purchases
• Oversee inventory and proper storage of wines
• Contribute to budget planning and cost control for wine programme
