Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to own the design, development, and implementation of production tooling for advanced solid rocket motors. You will lead from concept through production release, applying DFM/DFA principles and coordinating with internal teams and external vendors.

This role emphasizes end-to-end tooling ownership, prototyping, validation, and creating comprehensive documentation to ensure scalable, high-rate manufacturing in the defense sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–8+ years of mechanical engineering in manufacturing or production.
• Proven ownership of mechanical design projects from concept to production release.
• Experience designing, prototyping, and implementing production tooling (jigs, fixtures, molds, assembly aids, test fixtures).
• Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, NX, CATIA) and FEA for analysis.
• Strong understanding of DFM and DFA principles for product and tooling.
• U.S. Person status required for export controlled data.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end lifecycle of specialized manufacturing tooling for solid rocket motors.
• Serve as design authority for tooling including jigs, fixtures, molds, assembly aids, test fixtures.
• Drive design process with CAD, FEA, and simulations for robust tooling.
• Oversee prototyping, validation, fabrication, testing, and iteration.
• Create documentation, work instructions, maintenance procedures, and quality plans for tooling.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams, quality engineers, and vendors to improve tooling performance.
