Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to own the design, development, and implementation of critical production tooling for advanced solid rocket motors. You will drive end-to-end tooling development, from concept and prototyping through validation and full factory production, ensuring reliability and high-rate manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• 3–8+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a manufacturing/production focus.
• Proven track record of leading mechanical design projects from concept to full production release.
• Direct experience designing production-grade tooling (jigs, fixtures, molds, assembly aids, test fixtures).
• Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, NX, CATIA) and experience with FEA for design validation.
• Strong understanding of DFM/DFA principles applied to product and tooling designs.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, additive, casting, composites).
• Experience with GD&T per ASME Y14.5.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end lifecycle of tooling for SRM production from concept to production release.
• Serve as design authority for jigs, fixtures, molds, assembly aids, and test fixtures.
• Leverage CAD, FEA, DFM/ DFA to ensure robust, repeatable tooling for high-rate manufacturing.
• Oversee prototyping, validation, fabrication, testing, and iteration of tooling designs.
• Create documentation, work instructions, maintenance procedures, and QC plans for tooling.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and external vendors to meet tooling requirements.
• Apply DFM and DFA to tooling and product to optimize manufacturability.
• Provide technical guidance and issue resolution across the manufacturing value chain.
