Job summary

FreeWheel, part of Comcast, is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive the architecture of the Buyer Cloud Ad Serving platform. The role focuses on building highly scalable, low-latency backend services for a DSP backbone that handles billions of auctions with millisecond responses.

The ideal candidate has 13+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a Staff/Lead role, and expert-level skills in C++, Go, Java, or Rust, plus distributed systems expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 13+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a Staff or Lead Engineer role.
• Expert-level proficiency in C++, Go, Java, or Rust and distributed systems design.

Responsibilities

• Architect end-to-end architecture for highly scalable, low-latency backend services.
• Drive multi-team initiatives focused on platform reliability, scalability, and operational excellence.
• Identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks in distributed workflows with strict latency budgets.
• Collaborate with Product, Infra, SRE, and Data Engineering to define roadmaps and align technical strategy.
• Establish best practices for design reviews, code quality, testing, observability, and RCA.
