Job summary

FreeWheel, a Comcast company, seeks a Software Engineer to join the Buyercloud Ad Serving team in Virginia. You will design data-driven features and scale a high‑throughput system that runs billions of auctions per day. You’ll optimize performance, extend observability, and contribute to on-call incident response.

The role requires 3+ years in software engineering, strong C++, Java, and Go skills, Linux experience, and a drive to build at scale in a global ad tech environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience with compiled languages, such as C++, Java, Rust, and Go.
• Experience working in a Linux ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Design and build data-driven and model-driven features for customers' marketing campaigns.
• Scale distributed applications and infrastructure to the next level.
• Optimize algorithms and software architectures to save cloud hosting costs.
• Support and extend the observability stack to capture and alert on issues.
• Participate in on-call rotations and be an escalation contact for service incidents.
• Write systems documentation, playbooks, and other instructional manuals.
