Job summary

WSP seeks a Senior Remediation / Sediment Engineer for its Traverse City, MI office, supporting Midwest projects within Earth & Environment teams. The role involves leading sediment remediation projects, coordinating design work, and interfacing with clients on complex environmental challenges.

Ideal candidate has 12+ years of experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and proficiency in technical writing, with ability to work independently in a dynamic, growing team environment.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree(s) required: civil, environmental, geotechnical or similar.
• Minimum 12+ years of experience in the field.
• HAZWOPPER (40-hour) certification with 8-hour refresher.
• Strong technical capability and client-relations skills.
• Familiarity with CERCLA, RCRA, 401/404 permitting and regulatory guidance.
• Experience with traditional and innovative remediation technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead Design Engineer for sediment remediation projects.
• Develop strategic approaches that meet regulatory requirements and deliver client value.
• Provide engineering design for remediation of contaminated sediments, soil, and groundwater (dredging, capping, containment, in-situ/ex-situ treatment, vapor mitigation).
• Coordinate development of technical documents: feasibility studies, remedial work plans, designs, specs, reports, and permits; track scope, schedule and budget.
• Act as technical leader and interact with clients to solve tough issues.
• Mentor developing engineers.
