Job summary

WSP is seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our Earth & Environment team across multiple U.S. locations including Detroit, MI. The role focuses on technically challenging site investigation and remediation projects for energy clients, with substantial field work and travel.

Ideal candidates have a B.S. in environmental engineering and 1+ years of relevant experience, along with strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Environmental Engineering or related field.
• 1+ years of relevant experience in environmental sampling, site investigation, or remediation.
• Must be organized and detail‑oriented.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Flexible to work outside normal hours with overnight stays.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• HAZWOPER certification and valid driver's license required.
• Experience in site investigations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Approximately 70% field work and travel with overnight stays.
• Perform environmental sampling (surface water, groundwater, soil, sediment, soil vapor, indoor air) and oversee subcontractors.
• Complete detailed field notes and documentation of field activities.
• Collaborate in a team and communicate across disciplines.
• Communicate professionally with staff, clients, regulators, and on‑site personnel.
• Assist with project planning and coordination with laboratories, drillers, and equipment vendors.
