Job summary

The State of North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) in the Weaverville area is seeking an Engineering Technician III (S) to serve as lead inspector for highway construction projects within Division 13. Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or related field with three years of progressive technician experience.
• Experience interpreting contracts, plans, standards and specifications for highway construction.
• Experience inspecting, sampling and testing materials to ensure NCDOT specs.
• Ability to plan, develop, schedule, track, and complete projects with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Lead project roadway/structure inspector supporting engineers in highway construction administration.
• Perform and review test reports to ensure work/materials meet specs, plans and contracts.
• Manage pay records, material received reports, certified payroll, haul tickets, as-constructed plans, monthly estimates.
• Train and supervise lower-level technicians and inspectors.
• Identify and resolve constructability issues to mitigate delays and manage safety and quality.
• Monitor utility relocation work and subcontractor compliance with contract and DBE requirements.
