Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Transportation Technician IV to lead inspection activities on North Carolina transportation projects. The role supervises staff, verifies conformance to plans, and maintains essential project records.

Qualifications include an Associate degree in civil tech or related field and seven years of progressive experience, with DOT standards knowledge and preferred NCDOT certifications.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum from an accredited institution plus seven years of technician level experience or an equivalent combination.
• Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans.
• Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
• Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
• Thorough understanding of DOT Standards and Roadway Specifications and Drawings.
• NCDOT certifications such as Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Conventional Density Testing preferred.
• Experience with local clients preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect contractor operations on transportation projects to verify conformance to plans and specifications.
• Supervise and maintain subordinate inspection staff during construction.
• Measure and track quantities of pay items.
• Maintain records including material certifications, testing reports, and inspector's daily diaries.
• Interact with the public, government agencies, contractors, and other parties to respond to inquiries and resolve field issues.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
