American Credit Acceptance, LLC is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to serve as a trusted partner on regulatory matters in consumer finance and to lead a small team of legal professionals. You will own regulatory workstreams across lending, auto finance, consumer protection, and debt collection while guiding business processes and governance.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• 10+ years of related experience, including in-house.
• Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Prior leadership experience coaching and developing teams, influencing senior stakeholders.
• Knowledge and experience in auto finance is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Provide strategic legal counsel on regulatory matters related to consumer protection, lending and auto-finance.
• Own and drive governance processes related to policy management and cross-functional coordination.
• As lead counsel for loan originations, advise on state‑specific lending laws and underwriting standards.
• Advise on existing and new product initiatives for indirect/direct lending with controls to manage risk.
• Advise Servicing on adherence to debt collection laws at federal and state levels.
• Support state licensing and examinations and regulator engagement.
• Partner with Compliance and Business leaders to interpret regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate changes in consumer protection, lending and debt collection laws.
• Implement and maintain controls to support regulatory compliance.
• Liaise with outside counsel on regulatory matters.
