Job summary

Hensel Phelps in Hawaii seeks a Lead Quality Control Engineer to manage QC on projects, mentor junior engineers, and enforce quality controls in field and office settings. This safety-sensitive role requires coordinating QA activities across disciplines and ensuring compliance with contract requirements.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture or construction management.
• 3-5 years’ experience on large commercial construction projects.
• Strong communication skills.
• Capable of understanding specs, standards and codes for all disciplines.
• Experience with Excel-based templates, Prolog, Primavera and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Review and update the project quality process log (QPL) and provide comments to the QC manager.
• Direct removal and replacement of non-conforming work and stop work per contract.
• Be aware of the contract, plans, specifications and applicable codes.
• Submit and review RFIs to ensure changes are implemented in the field.
• Coordinate daily test and inspection schedules from trade partner requests.
• Participate in work completion tagging, punch list processes and pre-final punch list.
• Audit trade partner QC procedures and participate in the quality recognition program.
• Participate in CIP and lessons learned; advocate these programs.
• Perform safety and housekeeping inspections through the SAFE program.
