Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC design for educational, healthcare, corporate, and science projects across the United States. This remote role offers flexibility to work from home while collaborating with a national team.

You will direct complex design, mentor staff, manage budgets, and interface with clients. A US PE license is required, LEED preferred, and Revit/Trane software experience is essential for project success.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of related experience in mechanical design and project leadership.
• Current US Professional Engineer license.
• LEED accreditation preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes.
• Ability to work independently across mechanical disciplines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with Revit, Trane Trace or Trane 3D Plus.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex HVAC design for large-scale facilities.
• Mentor designers and engineering team.
• Direct work of junior staff and review performance.
• Participate in QAQC and independent reviews.
• Interface with clients and project team; attend meetings.
• Oversee energy modelling and BIM modeling.
• Prepare Revit/BIM construction drawings from schematic to construction phases.
• Review and approve shop drawings for compliance.
• Support project budget and participate in value engineering.
• Respond to RFIs and change orders; visit sites as needed.
