Job summary

The City of Dallas is seeking a Programmer Analyst III to lead a team working on large projects and applications for city departments. You will plan, administer, operate, program, and evaluate new and existing systems to support city services and initiatives.

Responsibilities include overseeing incident and request management, coordinating with IT service delivery teams, and ensuring performance and compliance across enterprise systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, math, computer science, Business Technology, or Information Technology related fields.
• Four years of experience in Object‑Oriented Programming and/or relational databases.
• Proficiency in Java, SQL, Python, and C/C++ within applications.
• Knowledge of ITSM/ITIL methodologies and related tools.
• Ability to work in 24x7 support as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert application-layer support and monitoring for assigned applications and related integrations.
• Coordinate incident management, service requests, and problem/change/release activities with IT teams and vendors.
• Monitor ITSM queues and ensure proper triage, routing, and customer service.
• Write, modify, and document software applications and runbooks; assist users and project teams in using new or updated software.
• Collaborate with business department experts to map processes, data conversion, and reporting requirements.
• Evaluate and enhance systems to maximize processing efficiency and troubleshoot incidents.
• Perform testing (functional, regression, end-to-end) and prepare testing scripts for change control.
• Assist in evaluating software/hardware purchases and develop workflow solutions.
• Review coding and mentor junior analysts; participate in training and knowledge sharing.
• Compile complex ad-hoc reports and support various City projects.
