Job summary

Mark43, a remote-friendly software company, seeks a Lead Product Designer to own a critical area of our product portfolio and partner with Product and Engineering to define problems and direction.

You will translate the needs of first responders into reliable, cross-device experiences, guide discovery through delivery, and help shape our design system and practices in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional product design experience, with ownership across shipped software products.
• 5+ years designing complex enterprise SaaS products or sophisticated systems/workflows.
• Track record leading design for substantial product areas, setting direction and driving from discovery to shipped outcomes.
• Strong product judgment spanning customer needs, strategy, interaction design, and execution.
• Deep experience with qualitative and quantitative research informing product decisions.
• Experience partnering with Product and Engineering, influencing decisions without formal authority.
• Excellent interaction and visual design skills with a high bar for craft.
• Ability to communicate complex design decisions clearly to customers, peers, and leadership.
• Comfort operating in fast-moving environments with ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Set design direction for a critical product area and create a clear vision for how the experience should evolve.
• Lead initiatives from discovery through delivery, synthesizing insights and partnering with Product/Engineering.
• Balance user needs, technical constraints, and business priorities in tradeoffs.
• Work with first responders and public safety agencies to translate workflows into intuitive experiences.
• Design across devices and environments, from dispatch workstations to mobile apps and tablets.
• Contribute to a design system, raise craft standards, and mentor others.
• Present product vision or design recommendations to customers and senior leaders with clear rationale.
• Explore AI/ML opportunities to improve safety workflows and responsible AI-powered experiences.
• Refine interactions in design tools, review implementations with Engineering, and polish edge cases.
