Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a process engineer/lead scientist to lead research and development programs across API and natural product modalities, from development through commercialization. You will mentor scientists, drive strategies, and contribute to cross-functional teams to ensure robust processes and successful project outcomes.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in chemical engineering with 14+ (BS), 12+ (MS), or 6+ (PhD) years of relevant industrial experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to function as a principal investigator and generate original technical ideas.
• Recognized expert within the company or externally.
• Experience as primary author of publications or patents; strong presentation skills.
• Strong scientific communication and conference presentation capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Leverage chemical engineering principles in experimental design, data analysis, and problem-solving.
• Adhere to safety, regulatory, and GxP standards across projects.
• Lead research efforts and develop strategies for multiple projects.
• Mentor and supervise a team to ensure high performance and accountability.
• Present at conferences and contribute to publications or patents.
