Job summary

Lilly is seeking a small molecule Process Engineer to support the Lebanon, Indiana startup facility focusing on active pharmaceutical ingredient synthesis. You will tackle technical challenges in reactor design, process development, and scaling to GMP manufacturing.

Collaborating with HSE, QA, Tech Services, Operations, Automation, and Manufacturing, you will ensure safety, quality, and compliant documentation while optimizing processes and scaling capabilities.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical manufacturing, or CMO environments.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.
• Familiarity with DeltaV, Dynochem, Aspen, and electronic lab notebooks.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain process knowledge for API small molecule synthesis.
• Support unit operations, reactor design, and process optimization.
• Assess risk and ensure safety, quality, and cGMP compliance.
• Coordinate with HSE, QA, Tech Services, Development, Operations, Automation, and Maintenance.
