Job summary

RTX is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer in the US to lead a cross-functional team of engineers in the development of highly reliable aerospace products. You will oversee design activities, conduct trade studies, and ensure manufacturability while meeting customer requirements and controlling costs.

The role focuses on technical leadership, collaboration with Systems Engineers, and hands-on CAD modeling to deliver robust components and assemblies. Onsite work in Jamestown, ND is expected.

Qualifications

• University degree with 8+ years of experience or advanced degree with 5+ years.
• Experience in aerospace mechanical design and development.

Responsibilities

• Generate design concepts and perform trade studies to optimize configurations.
• Design and review layouts, drawings for manufacturability and conformance to standards.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor less experienced engineers.
• Coordinate interrelated design activities with Systems Engineers and IPT for project success.
• Perform tolerance analysis and basic stress sizing for components and assemblies.
