Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design lifecycle from concept through production. You will guide cross‑functional teams, apply GD&T and DFMA, and develop robust, producible solutions for defense and aerospace programs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience leading mechanical product development lifecycle and cross‑functional teams.
• Experience with CREO and GD&T in production environments.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and document mechanical components and assemblies per requirements.
• Lead mechanical engineering teams and manage schedules, cost, and technical objectives.
• Collaborate with analysts, materials engineering, quality, safety, supply chain, operations and program leadership.
• Support factories and suppliers with product development and obsolescence management.
• Conduct trade studies and participate in design peer reviews.
• Apply GD&T, DFMA, and producibility principles to improve designs.
