Job summary

RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, seeks a senior Mechanical Design Engineer. You will design across all design cycle phases, support the existing 24K/30K fleet, and drive commonality and maintainability for customers and MRO facilities.

The role requires 8+ years in mechanical design (or 5+ years with an advanced degree) and proficiency in hardware, blueprints, and manufacturing methods. Teamcenter/NX skills and security clearance are preferred.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required; 8+ years in mechanical design OR advanced degree with 5+ years.
• Experience with hardware, reading blueprints, and manufacturing methods.
• Experience with engineering standard work and with Class I/II EC process.

Responsibilities

• Design support across all phases of the design cycle from preliminary to detailed design and validation.
• Support the existing 24K/30K fleet with enhanced commonality and optimization of components.
• Expand maintainability for commercial customers and MRO facilities; assist in testing and verification of field issues and redesigns.
• Develop data, layouts, sketches and notes for design proposals; design and review layouts and calculate stack-up.
• Coordinate with other engineering personnel to ensure project completion and quality; provide technical leadership to IPTs and train less experienced engineers.
• Communicate clearly with teams and ensure adherence to standards, procedures and specifications.
