Job summary

RTX is seeking a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer (P5) for the ALE AUR Mechanical Design organization in the United States. The role focuses on casting technologies, producibility, and design excellence across a large mechanical engineering team.

You will lead design, mentor teams, collaborate with PM, Systems, Operations, and suppliers, travel up to 75% domestically to casting and machining partners, and apply GD&T and DFMA to deliver robust components for military programs.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with 10+ years' experience or advanced degree with 7+ years.
• Experience in leadership roles across full development lifecycle.
• Experience with aluminum casting and machining processes.
• Willingness to travel domestically up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and document components and end items per requirements.
• Lead and mentor mechanical teams, meet schedule and budget.
• Collaborate with analysts, materials, quality, and supply chain.
• Support factories and suppliers across domestic and international sites.
• Conduct trade studies and participate in design reviews.
• Apply thermal, structural, and GD&T analyses to improve designs.
• Develop and maintain the technical data package (TDP).
