Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Lead Full Stack Engineer to architect and deliver the NBA platform's real-time decisioning services, ensuring reliability, observability, and scalable performance across a distributed stack.

You will own design and implementation of core components, mentor peers, and drive production readiness while contributing production code in Java, Python, Node.js, and TypeScript.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 8+ years of full stack software engineering experience with platform reliability leadership.
• Experience with Java, Python, Node.js, or TypeScript.
• Automated testing frameworks experience (integration, end-to-end, load).
• Observability practices: logging, metrics, tracing, alerting.
• Reliability patterns for distributed systems: fault tolerance, retries, recovery.
• Lead a small engineering pod and manage contractor resources.
• Cloud-native apps on Kubernetes.
• Clear communication of operational risks to technical leaders.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Copilot).

Responsibilities

• Own delivery for platform scale and reliability pod.
• Improve uptime, performance, resilience across services.
• Build automated testing frameworks and quality gates.
• Write production code and reliability tooling.
• Own logging, metrics, tracing, alerts, and monitoring strategy.
• Define patterns for exception handling and failure recovery.
• Lead scalability initiatives as usage grows.
• Enforce release readiness and operational gates for production ownership.
• Mentor engineers and manage contractors.
• Coordinate with decisioning, orchestration, activation, platform, and data teams.
