Job summary

NiSource is seeking a Senior Maintenance Supervisor to direct plant maintenance activities and optimize equipment availability for reliable system operations. You will drive cost-effective maintenance strategies with a strong emphasis on workforce safety and productivity.

The role requires leading a team of technicians in corrective and predictive maintenance, ensuring safety, and coordinating with engineering and plant leadership on repair plans and schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 4+ years’ experience in Maintenance in a power plant or similar industrial setting.
• Commitment to safe work practices.
• Strong technical background in industrial equipment and systems; power plant preferred.
• Ability to use predictive maintenance techniques (thermography, vibration analysis, ultrasound, tribology).
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Understanding of the maintenance management process.
• Effective communication with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
• Familiarity with cross-disciplinary relationships between equipment and controls.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a team of Operations and Maintenance Technicians in corrective and predictive maintenance on plant systems and equipment.
• Maintains a safe work environment and conducts pre-job safety briefs.
• Ensures time in control room and simulator for ongoing operations.
• Prioritizes environmental equipment and permit compliance in maintenance activities.
• Collaborates with Operations Superintendent, Engineering, and Plant Manager on repair strategies and schedules.
• Assigns scheduled and emergency maintenance; allocates resources as needed.
• Manages Employee Code of Conduct and collective bargaining agreement.
• Performs semi-annual performance reviews.
• Develops budget requests for equipment maintenance and capital improvements.
• Forecasts department expenses monthly within budget.
• Assumes standby duties and responds to emergencies outside normal hours.
• Trains employees in tool usage, maintenance practices, and safety.
• Supports operations in monitoring equipment and determining maintenance scope.
