Job summary

City of Fresno is seeking a Supervising Plans Examiner to lead staff in enforcing fire, life safety, accessibility, and structural codes for building projects within the city. This role requires substantial background in plan review and enforcement, with leadership responsibilities and performance management.

Qualified applicants must have four years of experience as Plans Examiner III or a bachelor’s degree plus two years of progressive lead experience in related areas, with transcripts

Qualifications

• Lead experience in architecture, engineering, construction, code enforcement, permit or plan review, inspection, or related field.
• Substitution: additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
• Transcript/degree proof must be uploaded with the application.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff engaged in enforcing codes, ordinances, and regulations related to fire, life safety, accessibility, and structural elements of construction.
• Oversee plan review and permit processes for City of Fresno projects.
• Coordinate workloads and ensure certification requirements and training are met.
