Job summary

The City of Fresno is seeking a Supervising Planner in the Planning and Development Department. The incumbent will supervise staff, oversee current and long-range planning projects, prepare schedules, and ensure zoning code compliance.

The position manages a caseload of complex entitlements and coordinates public hearings, with an eligibility list established for three months and possible extension at the City’s discretion. A qualifying degree and planning experience are required.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience as a professional planner within a planning agency, one year of which included progressively responsible lead experience.
• Note: degrees or credits may be substituted year-for-year for required education.

Responsibilities

• Supervises activities of staff in the preparation of plans, policy proposals, zoning code enforcement and items for public hearings.
• Carries a caseload of complex entitlements and long-range projects in addition to supervisory duties.
• Prepares and administers work schedules for planning projects, customer service needs, public counter operations, and zoning code compliance.
