Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking a skilled piping assembler/welder to oversee and direct crew members in installing and maintaining piping systems. Responsibilities include reading isometric drawings, selecting pipe sizes, and ensuring safe, timely execution of tasks.

You will cut, thread and bend pipe, install supports, mounts, and joints, and test systems for leaks. The role may involve welding and operating related equipment in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read isometric drawings and derive location, orientation, size and diameter of piping/equipment.
• Experience installing/maintaining piping systems, supports, fixtures and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.
• Knowledge of safety rules and project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Selects pipe type and size and related materials according to job specs.
• Inspects worksite for obstructions and plans installation sequence.
• Cuts pipe with hacksaw, pipe cutter, torch and cutting tools.
• Threads pipe using threading machine and bends pipe by hand or with tools.
• Mounts pipe hangers/brackets and secures pipes to structures.
• Assembles and installs pipes and fittings with joints (caulked/soldered/brazed/cemented).
• Installs and maintains refrigeration and AC systems and piping with hydraulic/pneumatic controls.
• Tests piping systems for leaks and checks gauges for indicators.
• Welds pipe supports to structural steel; may operate machinery to verify repairs.
• Loads/transports materials and assists in lifting/installing pieces.
