Job summary

Bechtel Corporation in Houston, TX seeks a Lead Piping Field Engineer to lead piping field engineering on a medium-sized project, coordinating with design, construction, startup, and quality teams to ensure safe, efficient turnover.

You will guide staff, oversee takeoffs and material control, manage RFIs and change documentation, and ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and ES&H requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) with 8-10 years of piping experience, or 12-14 years overall
• Experience leading piping field engineers and coordinating with multiple disciplines to deliver projects

Responsibilities

• Lead piping field engineers and direct piping construction engineering activities per project specs
• Support staffing, competency development, and performance feedback for piping staff
• Maintain design-field communication to align deliverables and constructability
• Coordinate with construction, subcontractors, project controls, startup, ES&H and other disciplines on schedules and plans
• Lead piping quantity takeoff, cost tracking, and manpower planning
• Oversee piping work packages, RFIs, drawings, and turnover documentation
• Review cost and schedule data and support progress reports and forecasts
• Direct field material requisitions and ensure material availability
• Coordinate subcontract activities, submittals, inspection plans, invoices and scheduling
• Ensure installation/testing/ turnover comply with docs and standards
• Promote Zero Accident safety in planning and field work
• Coordinate piping turnover with startup and completions teams
