Job summary

SpaceX Bastrop facility is hiring a Sr. Automation & Controls Engineer for PCB production lines. You will design, implement, and optimize control systems for high‑volume PCB manufacturing, focusing on safety, reliability, and throughput.

Responsibilities include PLC programming, HMI development, and integration with SCADA/MES systems. The role requires expertise in electrical design, ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliance, and hands-on experience with high-speed automation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or chemical discipline is required.
3+ years of experience with high-speed manufacturing, controls and automation, and/or programming.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and manage automation projects including factory ideation, commissioning, and hand-off to operations.
Architect, write, and debug PLC code with maintainable, reusable structure for high-volume manufacturing.
Implement ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA compliant systems for robots, gantries, conveyors, and manufacturing equipment.
Create simple, intuitive HMI screens for machine operation and troubleshooting; ensure easy operator use.
Integrate equipment into master SCADA and MES systems; ensure robust data flows and alarms.
