Intuit seeks a Lead Tax Processor to guide Payroll Tax Operations (PTO) as a technical leader and SME. You will own complex casework, approve SOPs/KBs, coach team members, and ensure compliance across multi-state filings while driving process improvements.

The role emphasizes governance, rapid escalation resolution, and data-driven collaboration with cross-functional teams, with virtual, flexible hours and overtime eligibility.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in payroll tax with complex defect resolution.
• Led or mentored staff as a SME or lead.
• Expert knowledge of US payroll tax regulations across jurisdictions.
• Advanced writing for SOPs and technical documents.
• Proven ownership of SLAs and driving resolution of red flags.
• Experience handling high-volume payroll escalations.
• Willing to use AI tools to improve workflow.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary technical expert for TP1/TP2/TP3 staff and train resolution paths.
• Own SOPs and KB article authoring, reviews, and approvals.
• Coach team quarterly using SBIC feedback model to close skill gaps.
• Lead or support team huddles, QA sessions, and stand-ups as needed.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports to guide staffing.
• Resolve severe State and Federal payroll tax notices and IRS issues.
• Approve complex amended tax returns across states with audit trails.
• Identify trends and risks; share data-driven recommendations.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings maintaining compliance.
