Job summary

SelectTime, a division powering Intuit's payroll tax operations, seeks a Lead Tax Processor/SME to steer complex escalations and govern SOPs and knowledge bases. You will mentor staff, guide resolution strategies for high-stakes cases, and ensure governance through formal approvals.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in payroll tax or equivalent tax operations with focus on escalations
• Proven experience as lead, senior specialist, or SME coaching colleagues
• Expert knowledge of US tax payments, filings, and local municipal taxes
• Advanced writing skills to create and approve SOPs and technical documents
• Demonstrated ownership of SLAs and proactive issue resolution
• Strong problem-solving and data-driven decision making

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical expert for TP1, TP2, and TP3 staff, guiding resolutions.
• Own SOPs and Knowledge Base articles including review and approval.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions to close skill gaps.
• Lead team huddles and stand-ups, and support daily stand-up facilitation.
• Maintain oversight of WIP, backlog, and aging reports to advise staffing.
• Resolve the most severe payroll tax notices across jurisdictions.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns with audit trails.
• Identify regulatory risks and communicate with cross-functional teams.
• Represent the team in cross-functional meetings with a focus on compliance.
