Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert to drive complex payroll tax casework and governance. You will own SOPs, coach team members, and manage critical escalations while ensuring compliance across multiple states.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex tax defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Previous formal lead/senior SME role with coaching or training juniors.
• Advanced knowledge of tax payment and filing regulations across US jurisdictions, incl. PFML/SDI.
• Advanced writing skills for SOPs and technical documents.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time technical expert for TP1-TP3 staff and teach resolution paths.
• Own authoring, review, and approval of SOPs and KBs across core operations.
• Conduct structured coaching sessions quarterly to close skill gaps.
• Lead or contribute to standups, QA sessions, and performance boards as backup facilitator.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports; advise staffing needs to M1 manager.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices and amendments across states.
• Identify trends and compliance risks and communicate with stakeholders.
