Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and SME to drive complex tax resolutions and govern SOPs for Payroll Tax Operations in Ohio. You will own escalations, coach the team, and ensure accuracy in tax processing across multiple jurisdictions.

The role requires 4+ years in payroll tax, leadership experience, and strong knowledge of US tax regulations. This is an on-site Columbus position with overtime eligibility and a focus on process improvement and risk management.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience focusing on complex tax defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Previous formal lead, senior specialist, or SME role with coaching/mentoring experience.
• Expert knowledge of tax payment and filing regulations across US jurisdictions, incl. local municipal taxes.
• Advanced writing skills for SOPs and technical documents for tax processors.
• Strong ownership of SLAs with proactive issue resolution.
• Ability to handle highly sensitive escalations independently for 5+ years.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary technical expert for TP1/TP2/TP3 staff and coach resolution paths.
• Author, review, and approve SOPs and KB articles across core operations.
• Conduct formal coaching sessions at least quarterly to close skill gaps.
• Lead or support team huddles, QA sessions, and daily standups when needed.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports; advise staffing needs to M1 manager.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices and cross-jurisdictional penalties.
• Approve complex amended Federal/State returns with audit trails.
• Identify trends and compliance risks; communicate with stakeholders.
