Horan Hiring Solutions, LLC is recruiting on behalf of a premier automotive supplier in Grand Rapids, MI for a Production Supervisor on the second shift in the paint operations department. You will lead one Team Leader and about 25 employees, ensure safety, quality, and on-time production in a unionized environment.

The role requires hands-on leadership, coordination with QA, Engineering, Maintenance, and Production, and focus on Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement.

Competenze

• Supervisory or team leadership experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Ability to organize people, set clear expectations, and maintain accountability in a fast-paced operation.
• Automotive manufacturing experience with plastic components or related processes preferred.
• Knowledge of painting, coatings, surface preparation, curing, or paint-quality requirements preferred.
• Experience in a unionized facility and familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and work rules preferred.
• Exposure to automated lines, robotics, PLCs, conveyors, sensors, and production automation desirable.
• Strong understanding of production metrics, quality controls, scrap reduction, and downtime management.
• Excellent communication, coaching, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Willingness to work the full second-shift schedule and stay as needed before/after shift.

Mansioni

• Provide hands-on leadership for second-shift paint operations and ensure safe, efficient execution of the production schedule.
• Lead, coach, and manage one Team Leader and ~25 production employees across loading, unloading, inventory, and quality functions.
• Assign labor and resources to meet daily production requirements and maintain shift continuity.
• Monitor paint-line performance, output, quality, scrap, rework, downtime, and material usage; take corrective actions.
• Promote safety culture and ensure compliance with plant procedures, PPE, chemical-handling standards, and safety regulations.
• Maintain coating quality by collaborating with QA, Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to resolve defects.
• Support troubleshooting of the automated paint line, robotics, conveyors, sensors, and related equipment; escalate as needed.
• Ensure materials are staged, tracked, and controlled to support uninterrupted operations.
• Conduct shift start-up meetings and provide clear handover to the next shift and plant leadership.
• Train and develop employees; reinforce standardized work and address performance
• Complete production reports and drive continuous improvement (Lean, 5S, root-cause analysis).
