Job summary

Markent Personnel, Inc. is seeking a Production Supervisor for the second shift in Grand Rapids, MI.

The role leads the paint operations, manages one Team Leader and about 25 production staff across loading, unloading, line support, inventory control, material handling, and quality auditing, with a strong focus on safety, quality, delivery, and engagement in a union environment. You will assign labor, monitor line performance, coordinate with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance and Production

Qualifications

• Supervisory experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Strong communication, coaching and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in a unionized automotive environment is desirable.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S and continuous improvement is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on leadership for second-shift paint operations.
• Lead Team Leader and ~25 employees across loading, unloading, line support, inventory, material handling, and quality functions.
• Assign labor and resources to meet daily production requirements.
• Monitor paint-line performance, output, quality, scrap, downtime; take corrective action when targets are missed.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with procedures and regulations.
• Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to resolve defects.
• Support troubleshooting of automated paint line, robotics, conveyors, and sensors.
• Ensure materials are staged and tracked for uninterrupted operations.
• Conduct shift start-up meetings and effective handovers to the next shift.
• Train and develop employees; enforce standardized work and policies in a union environment.
• Complete production records and drive Lean, 5S and continuous-improvement initiatives.
