Job summary

POWERX seeks a P&C Lead Test Engineer to head testing, commissioning, validation, and integration of protection and control systems across substations. You will ensure safety, reliability, and compliance while guiding field crews and interfacing with clients.

The role requires experience with relay protection, SCADA, IEC 61850 networks, and communications; travel to sites will be required as part of project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology, or an Associate degree in Electrical Technology or related field experience preferred.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in high-voltage Protection & Control testing and commissioning.
• Experience with SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens, Westinghouse, or equivalent relay platforms.
• Familiarity with NERC CIP and OSHA requirements is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and validation activities across transmission, distribution, and generation substations.
• Serve as the primary field technical interface between POWERX and the client, communicating status and risk clearly.
• Develop test plans, isolation plans, energization plans, commissioning procedures, and JHAs for complex protection schemes.
• Ensure testing aligns with utility standards and client commissioning requirements; review results for accuracy before turnover.
• Mentor developing Test Engineers and lead crews in field execution, safety, and documentation.
