Job description

Performs major duties/critical tasks of employees in the work area.

Enforces compliance with regulations and Company policies.

Enforces safe work practices and the use of personal protective equipment.

Assists with the supervision and training of packaging and warehouse employees.

Functional Behaviors:

  • Visually inspects containers and their components
  • Observes actions of people to verify supervisory or performance feedback.
  • Hears and recognizes alarm signals in order to follow safety procedures
  • Uses sense of touch to help determine condition and presence of compressed gases in cylinders or containers
B. Physical Activities and Demands
  • Climbs ladders or stairs to examine equipment.
  • Performs activities requiring finger dexterity, such as rebuilding or replacing valves
Mental Processes
  • Performs reconditioning and filling tasks that must be performed in the proper sequence
  • Completes filling logs and other plant reports
  • Communicates policies, procedures, safety rules, and government regulations to operations employees.
  • Analyzes mechanical problems and makes “repair or replace” decisions
  • Assists with safety meetings and training sessions
Social and Psychological Context
  • Works with production and delivery deadlines
  • Safety concerns require quick or immediate response to certain situations, such as spills or leaks
  • Involved in interpersonal or social situations involving advising, persuading, or supervising.
  • Expected to lead by example and set the standards in safety, housekeeping, production levels, time utilization, and overall job performance.
  • Company expects a professional demeanor and positive attitude when dealing with customers, vendors and employees.
Working conditions
  • Worker is exposed to:
  • Out of doors environment (subject to all weather conditions).
  • Working from heights (e.g., catwalks in plant).
  • Noise of production environment
Safety Equipment:
  • Safety glasses and steel-toed boots required in warehouse, production, and trucking areas.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment, as necessary, depending on job function and chemical exposure.
QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS

Education: High school diploma preferred

Experience: Two to five years experience in a Company plant or warehouse

Knowledge of:
  • General processing/operations principles.
  • Usage and handling of compressed gases and industrial chemicals.
Skill in:
  • Oral communication.
  • Directing others; providing performance feedback.
  • Basic mathematics, such as addition and subtraction of fractions and decimals
Ability to:
  • Load and unload vehicles using forklifts and other equipment
  • Influence others (advise, persuade, negotiate, instruct).
  • Deal with frustrating situations.
  • Prepare reports.
  • Recognize site alarms and malfunctions.
  • Read and understand training materials
  • Visualize the connections/relationships between piping, valves and other components of the filling and warehouse systems
  • Provide quick reaction and immediate response to required situations
