Job description

Shift: 6:00 p.m. - until (typically 3:30/4:00 a.m.) weekend work required

Summary:

Qualified by successful completion of certified training modules and methods to set up, operate, and maintain all qualified equipment for assigned inside production departments. Under supervision, coordinates work and resolves production and equipment problems for departments such as Cutting, Packing, Capping, and Finished Goods.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Sets up, troubleshoots, repairs, and/or replaces parts, and operates qualified equipment.
  • Coordinates work and resolves production or equipment problems under supervision.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and inspections.
  • Maintains equipment to produce safe, quality food while meeting KPIs.
  • Adjusts line speeds to meet standards and maximize production without compromising quality.
  • Conducts operational and pre-operational checks; writes work requests for repairs with supervisor approval.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs equipment to minimize downtime, notifying maintenance as needed.
  • Maintains cleanliness and performs preventive maintenance on work area and equipment.
  • Monitors product adherence to food safety and quality standards.
  • Reviews weekly and monthly maintenance reports.
  • Follows safety rules and company policies.

Other Duties:

  • Assumes some supervisory responsibilities in absence of supervisor.
  • Assists in training and monitoring department employees.
  • Performs inventory of supplies.
  • Performs minor fabrication tasks and occasionally operates forklifts.
  • Participates in training, meetings, and project teams as appropriate.
  • Receives instructions and performs additional tasks as directed.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; trades training preferred.
  • Successful completion of company training modules for all qualified equipment.
  • English proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Mathematical skills for sizing, calculations, and reporting.
  • Ability to learn new technology and instruct others.
  • Intermediate computer skills; CRC certification a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Not a supervisor but leads others and assumes some supervisory duties in absence.

Machines, Equipment, Tools Used:

Varies by department; includes conveyors, labelers, printers, case packers, cutters, fillers, sorters, and others, some computerized or robotic. Tools include hand tools, scan guns, measuring devices, and forklifts.

Physical Demands:

  • Includes bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing.
  • Medium work exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Requires close visual acuity for machine operation and mechanical tasks.

Work Environment:

Indoor environment with seasonal temperature variations, some exposure to grease, ink, dust, glue, fumes, and machinery noise. Ear protection, head cover, beard cover, and steel-toed shoes required.
