Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Work a rotating 12-hour shift which may be subject to shift holdover or shift reassignments.
  2. Be subject to call out at all hours and be available based on Primary Relief guidelines.
  3. Maintain a thorough knowledge of current operating procedures.
  4. Be dependable and able to work with little or no supervision.
  5. Write legibly and neatly.
  6. Communicate clearly and work well with others.
  7. Perform accurate calculations with a calculator.
  8. Learn to operate personal computers and communications equipment.
  9. Be familiar with basic hand tools and operate all product quality and measurement testing equipment necessary to obtain accurate results.
  10. Have a valid driver’s license for the state of residence.
  11. Identify gravity, color, and free-standing water in crude and refined product sampling processes.
  12. Help maintain safe and healthful working conditions by exercising sound judgment and complying with safety regulations and standards. Demonstrate safe work practices.
  13. Use and operate all pertinent safety equipment when performing duties in potentially hazardous areas (respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, etc.).
  14. Train and qualify as a Lead Operator.

The Lead Operator is responsible during the assigned shift for overseeing all site operations and ensuring SOPs and safety procedures are adhered to. They assist technicians, QACs, and other maintenance personnel, and help train other personnel in station/terminal operations. Must be able to climb tanks, work outdoors in extreme weather, and perform heavy physical labor safely.

Additional Requirements

  • Work rotating 12-hour shifts, potentially with holdovers or reassignments.

  • Maintain knowledge of current procedures.
  • Dependability and ability to work independently.
  • Clear communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to perform accurate calculations and operate computers and communication equipment.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and testing equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license and TWIC card.
  • Ability to identify physical properties in sampling processes.
  • Commitment to safety and health regulations, demonstrating safe work practices and using safety equipment.
