Job summary

Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to lead digital upgrades and design assessments for BWR/PWR plants. You will work in a project team environment, directing technical decision making and collaborating with vendors to ensure compliant, safe, and efficient I&C systems.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• 12+ years of experience in designing instrumentation and controls for heavy industrial plants.
• Experience with controls system design for low/medium voltage distribution and equipment like turbines, pumps, and feedwater control.
• Experience with DCS for nuclear plant instrumentation and controls, including turbine control and data displays.
• Firm/client liaison experience in a lead engineering role is desirable.
• Experience reviewing design drawings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and market high level, complex programs for nuclear power projects related to safety, maintenance, and project management.
• Direct technical decision making in a project team environment with engineers and designers.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve instrumentation & controls engineering issues.
• Coordinate design activities to ensure compliance with specifications and client requirements.
• Prepare calculations and documentation for design input, master diagrams, and schematics.
• Interface with vendors for materials and equipment specifications.
• Prepare reports and studies presenting technical information to clients.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope and satisfaction.
• Support outage activities as required.
