Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Modern Workplace Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers and administrators responsible for daily operations, engineering, and ongoing improvements of Modern Workplace services.

You will stay hands-on with design, troubleshooting, implementation, and escalation across Microsoft 365, endpoint management, collaboration, identity, automation, and related technologies.

Qualifications

• Seven+ years of progressive experience in Microsoft 365, endpoint engineering, infrastructure, systems administration, or related field.
• Three+ years of formal people-management or team-leadership experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience acceptable
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration and multiple Modern Workplace disciplines.
• Experience troubleshooting complex technical issues and guiding engineers to resolution.
• Experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale technology solutions.
• Experience coaching technical employees and managing performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Modern Workplace engineers and admins.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership across Microsoft 365, endpoint management, collaboration, identity, security, automation, and device engineering.
• Serve as senior escalation point for complex incidents and architectural decisions.
• Participate in technical discovery, design, configuration, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting.
• Review designs, scripts, configurations, and procedures for quality, security, and scalability.
• Manage work intake, prioritization, and resource assignment for operational and project work.
• Translate strategy into roadmaps and delivery plans; assign team tasks.
• Establish standards, engineering practices, and documentation requirements.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and professional development planning.
• Identify skill gaps and create opportunities for cross-training and growth.
• Coordinate with Director on platform strategy, budgeting, vendor management, and service improvement.
