Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University seeks a Modern Workplace Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers and administrators responsible for Microsoft 365, endpoint management, collaboration, identity, automation, and related technologies. You will report to the Director of Modern Workplace Engineering and guide technical decisions across multiple platforms.

You will drive architectural excellence, partner on platform strategy and budgeting, mentor staff, and ensure secure, scalable operations

Qualifications

• Seven+ years in Modern Workplace tech or related field.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on Microsoft 365 administration with two major Modern Workplace areas.
• Experience reviewing technical designs and docs.
• Experience coaching staff and managing performance.
• Experience balancing competing priorities and resources.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership across Microsoft 365, endpoint management, collaboration, identity, security, automation, and device-management technologies.
• Serve as a senior escalation point for complex technical incidents and architectural decisions.
• Participate in discovery, design, configuration, testing, deployment, and documentation.
• Review designs, scripts, configurations, and procedures for security and scalability.
• Manage work intake, priorities, resources, and delivery across operations and projects.
• Establish standards, practices, and accountability across the team.
• Conduct one-on-one meetings, performance discussions, and coaching.
• Identify skill gaps and foster cross-training and mentoring.
• Partner with Director on platform strategy, budgeting, vendor management, and service improvement.
• Coordinate delivery across Microsoft 365, Intune, Windows, macOS, MECM, Autopilot, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Entra ID, Power Platform, Copilot.
• Work with ITS teams to design secure, reliable solutions.
• Develop automation and repeatable engineering practices.
• Monitor performance, debt, workload, platform health, and outcomes.
• Communicate risks, dependencies, status, and resource needs to leadership.
• Represent Modern Workplace Engineering in reviews and governance forums.
