Job summary

Abbott Laboratories in Michigan seeks a Lab Supervisor, Microbiology (Day Shift, Weekends) to lead a 6am–4:30pm shift across Fri-Mon. You will supervise microbiology QA labs, drive performance metrics, and ensure compliance with FDA and OSHA requirements.

You will mentor staff, manage budget and direct expenses, and partner with production and quality to optimize lab performance and product quality in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Science, Food Technology, or technical field with 2 years' lab experience.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated problem solving skills in a regulated lab.
• Experience with high-volume manufacturing support labs.
• Experience using project planning tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead shift activities to ensure quality, safety and regulatory compliance.
• Manage lab budget, headcount, OT and direct expenses for the shift.
• Track performance metrics and drive improvements in lab efficiency.
• Provide training, mentorship and career development for team members.
• Support internal and external audits and CAPA implementation.
• Coordinate with production and quality to align schedules and priorities.
